Calling All Non-Profit Organizations!
Calling All Non-Profit Organizations!
An Invitation to Celebrate Our Nation’s Birthday!
Show off your creative side and possibly enhance your organization’s treasury by entering a float in the Wakefield Independence Day Committee’s 4th of July parade float competition. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, school groups, church and social organizations, along with sports teams have all entered floats in the past. No organization is too small.
No float is too small, either! “Olympian Pride” is the parade theme this year. Maybe you have an idea how to express that? Get your group together and make a plan, design a float. Building a float is a great team activity and it’s a lot of fun, too! The only size restriction is that your float can’t be taller than 13 feet from the ground up.
The fun and community pride that accompany the building of an Independence Day float is very rewarding. It can also be financially rewarding! Prize money is available to non-profit organizations that win the float decorating contests. First place is $500, second place, $300 and third place is $100.
Be sure to bring up the idea of having a float in the Fourth of July Parade at your next organization’s meeting. Talk it up! Help the Independence Day Committee share in our area’s community pride.
For more information, see the attached Rules and Regulations sheet. To register your organization to participate, just complete the attached Float Registration form and email it back to me at the email address below. If you have any questions, please free to contact Cheryl Dalton, Float Coordinator at cheryl.dalton@julyparade.org. The parade will step off on Tuesday, July 4th at 4:30 pm sharp!
